A Big Day at Enkitec

The #enkitecworlddomination bus has a few new stops on the tour...

Today was a pretty big day at Enkitec - one that probably comes as a shock to many people.  In case you haven't heard, Enkitec has been acquired by Accenture, which still sounds a little weird, to be honest.  I've pretty much spent my entire career working a small shop (well, everything is small compared to Accenture), and I'm sure that there will be a little bits of change here and there as we're integrated in with our "rich uncle" over time.  From everything that I have heard, we will continue to operate with business as usual for the foreseeable future.  That means that the Enkitec brand will still mean what it has always meant - the best collection of Oracle technologists in the world.  With Kerry and the rest of the core management team at Enkitec sticking around, that won't change at all.  There's been a buzz around for a little while about the exciting opportunities that wouldn't have been possible without this arrangement, and I can't wait to see where it goes.

When I started with Enkitec, we were a handful of people sharing space with another firm.  It's been great watching this company grow to nearly 100 people, taking on challenging problems and keeping that same feeling it had when I joined.  It's been amazing to watch the core leadership group stick to those key principals - hire smart people, treat them well, find them exciting work, and give them a place to continue learning the whole time.  From talking to everyone here, those core values aren't going anywhere.  We're going to continue to look for great team members, and find them problems to solve.  The problems may just be a little bit bigger than before, but they still need to be solved.

To me, what it really comes down to is that I've been around most of this core group for nearly 15 years.  I've been with them through up and down, and fully trust the direction that they see things going.  More than anything, it's a nice bit of validation that our small company has been doing something right for a while.  We knew it all along, but it's awesome to see it getting noticed.  It's truly unique that we have this team of selfless people that jump up to help somebody if they're in a bind.  Nobody is afraid to ask for help or turn to somebody else that may know more than they do on a particular topic.  I can't imagine a better group to work for and with.  It's been a great 8 years at Enkitec, and I look forward to the next 8 being just as productive and exciting.

Oh, and we're still hiring....
